SitePeek extension privacy policy
Effective October 28, 2026 · Русская версия
In short: SitePeek runs entirely in your browser. We do not collect, store on our server or share your search queries, sites, history or any other data.
What the extension does
On Google and Yandex results pages SitePeek numbers the results, highlights the sites you chose and estimates how realistic it is to reach the top 10 for the query. On other websites the extension does nothing on its own: it reads a page only when you open the extension window on that site or press the metrics bar hotkey.
What data is stored and where
Data is kept only in the browser’s built-in storage (chrome.storage) on your device:
- Settings: your site, competitor sites, enabled features. If browser sync is on, the browser may sync settings between your devices through your Google or Microsoft account. This is done by the browser; we have no access to this data.
- Top history: for each query you opened, the list of top-10 domains and the chance score. Used to show how stable the top is and to suggest related queries. At most 300 queries are kept; older ones are removed automatically.
- Tracked queries: queries, positions of your site and competitors, check history, chance score and recommendations. At most 500 queries are kept.
- Last page analysis: data of the page you checked (headings, meta tags, text, links) to show the report. Only the latest check is kept.
- Site popularity and age (if enabled): the domain’s Tranco rank and the date of its first web-archive snapshot. Kept for a month, then requested again.
- A service flag showing whether the last results page was read (number of results and time, without the query or addresses).
History and “Quick wins” can be deleted with the “Clear history” button in the extension window. When the extension is removed, the browser erases all its data.
Network requests the extension makes
The extension does not send your data anywhere. The only network requests are:
- Results parsing rules. Every few hours the extension downloads the file
sitepeek.ru/rules/v1.jsonfrom our site — a description of how to find results on Google and Yandex pages if a search engine changes its layout. It is data only (CSS selectors and word patterns), not program code. The request contains none of your queries, sites or settings — it is a plain download of one file that is the same for everyone. Our server only sees the technical details of any connection (IP address); we do not keep a log of these requests. - Google and Yandex results. When you click “Search deeper”, “Update positions”, “Check queries”, or when daily updates are enabled, the extension opens results pages — requests go directly to Google or Yandex, just as if you opened these pages yourself.
- Competitor pages. When you click “Compare with competitors” in the page analysis, the extension opens pages of sites from the top to compare them with yours, find what your text is missing and build a copywriter brief. All of this is computed in the browser. The browser asks your permission for these sites first. Requests go directly to these sites, without cookies.
- Page analysis. When you open the extension window on a site, the extension reads the page and requests its address from the same site (to get the server response), as well as robots.txt and sitemap.xml. Requests go only to the checked site, without cookies; results are not sent anywhere.
- Broken links. When you click “Find broken links”, the extension opens links from the checked page that lead to the same site and looks at the server response. The browser asks permission for this site first. Requests are made without cookies.
- Site popularity and age (off by default). If you turn on “Site popularity and age”, the extension requests data about domains from the results from the open services tranco-list.eu (site traffic ranking) and web.archive.org (web archive). Only site domains are sent — no queries, page addresses or data about you. The browser asks permission for these two sites first.
- Yandex SQI (off by default). If you turn on “Yandex SQI for sites”, the extension shows the SQI badge image served by yandex.ru. For this, the addresses (domains) of the sites shown are sent to yandex.ru.
All requests except the parsing rules happen only on your action or a setting you enabled. The page analysis reads a page only when you click the extension icon or press the hotkey. The extension has no analytics, ads or trackers. Fonts and all code are part of the extension itself.
Sharing with third parties
We do not sell, transfer or disclose user data to third parties. Data is not used for advertising, creditworthiness or any purpose other than running the extension.
Children
The extension is meant for site owners and SEO specialists and is not intended for children.
Changes to this policy
If features that need a server (for example, paid rank checking) appear in the future, we will update this page before they launch and describe what data is sent and why. Such features will only be enabled by your choice.
